HOPE worldwide UK have been helping the most vulnerable in society for over 20 years. Last year we were able to help 289 homeless people access long-term accommodation and in the last three years 79% of those who have graduated from our six-month drug and alcohol recovery programme were found to be still in successful recovery.
One of our objectives is to engage people in this work and to raise understanding of the issues around poverty. Ain’t It Funky fits perfectly into helping us to achieve this and is an excellent opportunity to explain some of the challenges of poverty and disadvantaged while also raising the profile of our work. We are very grateful to Duncan Lawrence and his committed team of funkyteers from Leicester for creating the Ain’t It Funky event which has become a regular fixture in the HOPE worldwide calendar. It has been amazing to see it grow and develop.
I really enjoyed attending last year. Not only was there great music and dancing, but also so many other activities to enjoy from the dressing up and photo booth to the retro computer games. There was also a great spread of hearty food to charge up the batteries for an evening of dancing. My favourite part was the spoof talent show complete with a Britain’s Got Talent style judging panel.
I am looking forward to Ain’t It Funky 6: In The Mix on 2nd February 2019. I am sure it will be the best yet.
If you haven’t been to one yet, come along and have a great time.
